Burn Ban for the City of Overland Park

The Overland Park Fire Marshal has issued a burn ban in effect immediately for the city.

The Kansas State Fire Marshal has warned of the fire hazards associated with extreme heat and dry conditions across the state.
Overland Park is suspending open and recreational burning until further notice. Any pending burn permit that has been issued is currently suspended until further notice. The ban will most likely remain in effect until our area receives appreciable rainfall.
Anyone caught burning during the ban may be issued a $500 fine and ordered to appear in court. Outdoor grilling is permitted, but grillers are urged to use extreme caution and be sure to have the means to suppress a fire. As a reminder, fireworks are illegal in Overland Park. Violators are subject to fines and liability associated with damages caused by illegal fireworks.

Please contact the Overland Park Fire Prevention Division at 913-888-6066 with any questions or concerns.

To clarify: Although the city of Overland Park has a burn ban the Star Spangled Spectacular will STILL be held on July 4th.
